Compressor / Gate

Stereo compressor, class-A audio circuit.

ARTICLE N° 57273
  • Elysia Xpressor Very versatile stereo compressor, with a Discrete Class A typology.
  • Bandwidth <10 Hz - 400 kHz (-3.0 dB).
  • THD + N @ 0 dBu, 20 Hz - 22 kHz, Mix 0%: 0.002%.
  • THD + N @ 0 dBu, 20 Hz - 22 kHz, Mix 100%: 0.006%.
  • THD + N @ +10 dBu, 20 Hz - 22 kHz, Mix 0%: 0.003%.
  • THD + N @ +10 dBu, 20 Hz - 22 kHz, Mix 100%: 0.056%.
  • Noise level, 20 Hz - 20 kHz (A-weighted): -94.0 dBu.
  • Dynamic Range, 20 Hz - 22 kHz: 115 dB.
  • Max input level: +21 dBu.
  • Max output level: +21 dBu.
  • Input impedance: 10 kOhm.
  • Output impedance: 68 Ohm.
  • Commands Threshold (Thresh): The threshold at which the compressor engages. As soon as the level exceeds this threshold, the signal is compressed.
  • Attack: The transient response of the compressor. This is also the time that the compressor reaches 10 dB gain reduction after exceeding the threshold.
  • Release: The time it takes for the compressor to return the signal to its unit level after the signal has passed the threshold.
  • Ratio: Refers to the ratio between the input level and the output level. The xpressor also allows you to choose negative ratios.
  • SCF: A low cut filter in the sidechain of the xpressor avoids any excess compression or 'pump' effects when the low frequency content is important.
  • Gain Reduction Limiter (GRL): Limits the control voltage. This new limiter is not in the audio circuit, but in the control circuit of the compressor.
  • Gain: The 'make up gain' of the compressor. We will compensate here the loss of gain caused by the compression itself.
  • Mix: The uncompressed signal and the compressed signal can be mixed using the only mix command. On-board parallel compression!
  • Gain Reduction Meter: Expressed in dB, it shows the amount of gain reduction applied to the source. It continues to display the reduction once the compressor is bypassed.
  • GRL LED: Indicates the activity of the Gain Reduction Limiter. If it is on, the incoming signal does not exceed the maximum amount of compression chosen using the knob.
  • Auto Fast: A semi-automation. This function shortens the attack time automatically on the strongest and fastest transients.
  • Log Rel (Log Rel): Refers to another form of the Release curve. When this function is activated, the curve goes from a linear progression to a softer logarithmic.
  • Warm Mode: The xpressor offers the possibility to sound the source differently by altering its frequency, harmonic and transient content.
  • Hit It! Engages the xpressor (LED on) or bypass (hardwire bypass) while keeping the active GR meter.
