Born in 1810 in Żelazowa Wola, near Warsaw, Poland, Frédéric François Chopin (1810-1849) left his mark on the history of music with his unique sensitivity and exceptional talent on the piano.
From an early age, he showed remarkable musical skills and received rigorous classical musical training which allowed him to develop his own composition and playing techniques.
His works are characterized by their lyrical melodies, colorful harmonies and virtuoso passages and touch the hearts of many music lovers around the world.

Chopin was deeply influenced by Polish culture, even though he left his native country at the age of 20 to settle in Paris. In his compositions, he evokes the landscapes, traditions and feelings that link him to Poland. His work reflects his Polish pride and identity, which he carries in his heart even far from his native land.
Chopin is considered one of the greatest composers and pianists of all time. His influence on classical music is immense and his works continue to fascinate music lovers around the world.

"If I'm not in optimal shape, I prefer to play an Érard, for its bright, ready-to-use sound. But if I feel alert, ready to exercise my fingers without fatigue, then I prefer a Pleyel. " This statement by Chopin became famous.

In the 1830s in France, when Chopin began living in Paris, there were two major piano manufacturers, Érard and Pleyel.
While Érard pianos were characterized by their magnificent tone, rich volume, and ease of play, Pleyel pianos were soft and delicate, sensitive to the slightest change in touch, and were meant to be instruments that required much more control. The variety of sounds produced by the Pleyels was essential to Chopin's works, and he was his favorite musical partner.
