A little history ...
It all began in 1925 when Sidney N. Shure some created his company in Chicago, wholesaler of spare parts for radios at a time when the industrialization of receivers has not yet begun.
The following year, Shure published his first catalog mail order pioneer of its kind in the US.
3 years after its founding, the company employs more than 75 people until the 1929 crisis drastically reduced demand while the first industrialized radios appear on the market.
The heartsick, Shure was forced to lay off almost all of its employees, who no longer one customer to supply a microphone manufacturer in this case.
What gives him the idea, two years later, to design their own micro with the help of a young engineer, Ralph Grover.
Shure is quickly becoming one of only four microphones manufacturers in the US, including proposing a micro ultra-light, the Model 33N and 40D, the 70 and finally 55 Unidyne way that will become a legendary microphone with its singular aesthetic.
The Second World War brings lucrative contracts with the army and the return of peace, Shure becomes the first US manufacturer of cells for turntable, famous brands provider like RCA, Emerson, Magnavox, Motorola ...
They invent the way, we are in 1948, the first cell capable of playing both LPs brand new 33-turns that old 78s.
In 1953, they created the first wireless microphone, called "The Vagabond" beginning of a long series of wireless systems they will be a specialty.
In the 60 appear successively what will become the standard of the brand until today, the SM57 and SM58 models, references if any.
In the early 90s, the Shure exploding wireless market with the L series; allowing it to dominate the sector in less than 10 years!
But in 1995, the creator, Sidney N. Shure dies at the age of 93.
The show must go on, and his family, his teams, continues unabated with his work, until today, a series of innovations ranging from in-ear headphones for personal monitoring systems via a range ever extended precision microphones.
