Presentation
Swivel HPS Waveguide & X-ART Tweeter
ADAM Audio’s HPS (High-Frequency Propagation System) waveguide technology allows for a more even projection of sound, wide horizontally but narrower vertically. The A-Series introduces a swivel HPS waveguide. You can swivel the A-Series tweeters 90 degrees, while still enjoying the HPS waveguide technology whether you install your speakers vertically or horizontally.
The A-Series HPS waveguide is made from a new glass-fiber polymer compound, which helps create a clean sound without unwanted resonance. At the center of the swivel HPS waveguide is ADAM Audio’s X-ART tweeter. Handcrafted in Germany, the X-ART tweeter delivers precise transient response and reproduces the finest sonic details. This X-ART tweeter is used in each of the A Series speakers to deliver precise sound across all models in the range.
Multi-layer mineral fibre woofer
The A Series woofers are made from a specific blend of mineral rock fibres fired together to create a lightweight yet extremely stable material. The mineral composition, stacking and geometry of each cone is specific to the speaker used in each model. By combining this material with the new magnet system, the A Series woofers produce a high output level, with very little distortion, to achieve clear bass.
Hybrid amplification
The A Series combines the best of the digital and analogue worlds. The woofers are powered by Class D amplifiers, which help to produce linear performance while reducing distortion. These amplifiers have been chosen specifically for their power and efficiency, both in terms of power consumption and sound reproduction. Less heat dissipation allows for a smaller heat sink, making it easier to invest in the A Series’ exceptional power and performance.
The tweeters and midrange drivers are powered by Class AB amplifiers, which reproduce high frequencies smoothly and naturally. Each amplifier is optimized for its operating range. The result is a finely tuned and correctly aligned speaker. To achieve this, ADAM Audio conducted extensive measurements and listening sessions, testing countless amplifiers and amplification components.
DSP Electronics
The A Series takes advantage of the scalability of DSP electronics to deliver speakers that are more precisely tuned and more stable than their purely analog counterparts. With firmware that can be updated via Ethernet, you can expect to see future advances in ADAM Audio’s DSP, including new features and filter types, as well as additional voicings.
Room Adaptation
On the rear of the A-Series speakers, you’ll find four bands of EQ dedicated to adapting to the listening space: Bass, Desk, Presence and Treble. Each band is adjustable in steps, giving you over a hundred options to help compensate for typical acoustic issues that arise when placing speakers.
Voicings
A “Voicing” is a predefined sound profile for the A-Series speakers. On the rear, you’ll find three distinct options, “UNR”, “Pure” and “Ext”, selectable with a switch.
“UNR” or “Uniform Natural Response™” is a natural and dynamic response curve designed by ADAM Audio and inspired by several historic and legendary ADAM Audio products, including the previous AX Series. It is suitable for production and composition, as the presence and charm of its timbre leaves more room for creativity and inspiration. It is also a very good option when you simply want to use your speakers to listen to music for pleasure.
“Pure” is an option that allows you to obtain a very precise and neutral sound. It is the “flat” setting, ideal for mixing and mastering, when you really need to hear all the details and rely on a faithful representation.
The “Ext” voicing is dedicated to the advanced features offered by the A Control software via the Ethernet connection.
A Control Software (Real-time Remote Control)
The DSP features of all A Series monitors can be controlled remotely and in real-time via Ethernet using the A Control software. Customers who have registered their A Series speakers can download the A Control software for Windows and macOS for free from their MyADAM space on www.adam-audio.com. Once the software is downloaded and installed, you can control multiple speakers at once, fine-tuning EQ from different listening positions in your studio. You can control speaker levels remotely while you work, if you’re far from a fader or physical interface. Remote control capabilities are especially useful in multi-use rooms, ensuring that voicing, EQ, and other parameters are set exactly as you want them.
Room Correction & Sonarworks Integration
The A Series speakers are designed to adapt to changing setups, preferences, and environments. Using A Control software, you can manage advanced filters directly within a platform integrated into the monitor speakers, compensating for imperfect acoustics. This integrated platform supports filters from industry-leading Sonarworks. Using Sonarworks software and a measurement microphone, you can calibrate your speakers to suit a new room, or new preferences.
Bass Reflex System, Baffles and Mounting
The new A Series baffles build on ADAM Audio’s heritage, and in particular the AX Series. The A Series baffles are based on an evolutionary design and feature deeper bevelled edges to further reduce diffraction. In addition, thicker walls strengthen the baffles and reduce internal vibration, while a flared port on each side optimizes airflow and reduces port noise. All A Series speakers feature a bottom mounting interface, so you have the flexibility to install them wherever you need them.
A Series Benefits
A Solution for Every Environment
With five models in a variety of sizes and specifications to choose from, finding the right speaker for you is simply a matter of taste and understanding the acoustics of your listening space. If you need more versatility in speaker placement, the pivoting HPS waveguide allows each speaker to be used horizontally or vertically, with minimal compromise in sound quality. Room-matching options located directly behind the monitor speaker help you address common speaker placement issues, including bass bump caused by nearby walls and surfaces.
Superior sonic performance
Every aspect of the A Series’ design, materials and components contribute to delivering exceptional sound quality and increased output compared to equivalent models in the previous AX Series.
The combination of Class-D amplifiers used with the A Series woofers, and Class-AB amplifiers that accompany the tweeters, produces impressive SPLs on all models and a frequency response that rolls off extremely low. The use of digital signal processing allows the A Series to take advantage of advanced features.
All A-Series speakers feature an X-ART tweeter installed in the middle of a custom-made HPS waveguide. The high quality of the tweeter materials, which are hand-bent in Berlin, combined with the precise propagation control produced by the waveguide, allows for better dispersion of high frequencies at both short and long listening distances.
The A-Series woofers are made from six layers of mineral rock fibers baked together to create a lightweight yet highly stable material that helps suppress partial vibrations and other sonic impurities. By combining this material with the new magnet system, the A-Series woofers produce a high output level, with very little distortion, for a very clean sound in the bass.
The elegant design of the baffles also contributes to the superior audio performance of the A-Series models. Specifically, the baffles have been beveled to minimize diffraction, and the thicker walls reduce vibrations within the cabinet. In addition, the flared port on each side reduces, compared to the AX Series speakers, the noise usually produced by the ports, by optimizing the airflow.
Faithful mixes
The A Series offers two voicings to choose directly from the rear of the monitoring speakers. "Pure" is an option that allows you to obtain a very precise and neutral sound. This is the "flat" setting, which allows you to hear with your speakers a faithful reproduction of your sound. It is ideal for mixing, mastering and critical listening.
A sound full of character
The A Series produces a sound full of character, with a beautiful presence, as you would expect from ADAM Audio. "UNR" or "Uniform Natural Response™" is a dynamic, natural-sounding voicing that you can activate from the rear of the monitoring speakers. It is inspired by a wide variety of past legendary ADAM Audio products, including the previous AX Series. It is suitable for production and composition, as its charming timbre leaves more
room for creativity and inspiration. It is also a great option when you simply want to use your speakers to listen to music for pleasure.
