Studio Monitors

Focal Solo6 new generation. The Solo6 is part of the ST6 range launched at the Namm Show in June 2022. As always, Focal remains faithful to its specificities: the Beryllium inverted dome tweeter and the very recognizable red wood sides. Of course, it is also made in France, like the previous models.

Focal is evolving its famous Solo6 by bringing it a new full-range Focus mode that allows the single woofer to become a full-range speaker. By this, understand that frequencies below 110 Hz and above 10 kHz will disappear so that the speaker behaves a bit like a small speaker (computer, TV, multimedia type), which will allow you to control your mix and correct it if necessary so that the balance remains coherent.

Ideal for multichannel mixes, you can think of your configuration by integrating the Solo6 ST6 with Twin6 ST6 and one or two Sub12.

The ST6 range was developed to meet the needs of professionals who need to equip themselves to mix in Dolby Atmos.

Key points:
• Beryllium inverted dome tweeter: very low directivity, excellent linearity and dynamics
• Acoustically optimized tweeter baffle: excellent dispersion control
• Composite sandwich membrane "W": sound neutrality, no distortion
• Focus mode: two monitors in one; 2-way monitor and 1-way full-range monitor (woofer only)
• Large laminar vent: no vent noise or distortion
• Wall-mount inserts*
• Disengageable automatic standby mode
• Settings: high-pass, LF shelving, HF shelving, LPF @ 160 Hz

Based solely on reading the product sheets, these models do not seem to have an improvement in bass. However, this observation can be explained quite simply by the fact that, since the development of the first Solo6 and Twin6, Focal has renovated its anechoic chamber and modernized its analysis tools, thus greatly increasing their precision. You will also notice that the product sheets of the first Solo6 Be and Twin6 Be did not specify the measurement range in dB on the frequency response.

If you have not already had the opportunity, we encourage you to listen to these new speakers and compare them to the previous Solo6 and Twin6. You will see that no deterioration in performance is to be expected, quite the contrary!
