Presentation
Gretsch Japan has done very well again with this limited edition of the Penguin!
This guitar incorporates all the elements that have made the model successful over several generations, namely a chambered mahogany body, for an open sound full of attack, with its sublime curly maple top bringing out the Forge Glow color of the guitar. more beautiful ways and bringing a little extra warmth.
The "U" mahogany neck is glued into the body and accompanied by its ebony fingerboard which, in addition to its classy look, brings a particularly welcome touch of brilliance to the attack.
By bringing enormous care and respect to period manufacturing processes, Japanese luthiers have created an instrument with exemplary playability and a Rock n' Roll look.
The sound is not to be outdone and the electronics have been carefully selected, the use of TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity microphones is an excellent example.
Wishing to pay homage to the legendary Ray Butts (inventor of the "Ful-Fidelity" Filter'tron), the TV Jones engineers created this set following the instructions and diagrams of the original creator for an astonishing result: the sound is tighter in the bass and the treble response is more pronounced without being shrill. Since the coils have not been put through a wax bath, the sound is more open with a unique three-dimensional spatialization and excellent dynamics.
Add to that the typical independent Master Volume/Volume configuration, and you have an aesthetically pleasing instrument that just begs to be played every night during your most fiery gigs.
