Designed for podcasting and music production, the Motu M2 audio interface brings professional quality and versatility to your recording sessions.

The unit is USB-powered for ultimate portability and ease of use. It includes a USB Type-C to Type-A cable to work with most computers. If your computer has USB Type-C ports, simply use a USB Type-C cable (available separately) to connect the two.

Alternatively, using a USB Type-C power adapter, the M2 can be used as a standalone preamp and basic mixer, without a host computer. Simply engage the control knob for each input (and 48V phantom power, if needed), and adjust the preamp gain. Connect the main outputs to any line-level destination, such as a PA or patch bay.

Equipped with the same ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC technology found in audio interfaces used by pros, the M2 delivers 120dB of dynamic range on its main outputs. ESS converters also power the headphone output. Ultra-clean preamp circuitry produces a measured EIN of -129dBu on the mic inputs; this means that when recording, you will only hear the mic, not the mic preamp.

The Motu M2 offers ultra-low latency for monitoring live inputs through your computer, thanks to MOTU’s expertly designed USB drivers. These offer a round-trip latency of 2.5ms, measured with a 32-sample buffer at 96kHz.

The M2 driver provides loopback channels to your host computer, so you can easily capture your computer’s output. Combine computer audio with live mics while recording into your DAW, allowing you to capture guests on Skype or other VoIP programs. You can also use the loopback feature when live streaming to sites like Twitch.

The M2 sound card also features 5-pin MIDI I/O, allowing you to connect a MIDI controller, sound module, or even a workstation keyboard without having to purchase a MIDI interface. The M2’s 1/4” outputs are DC-coupled, allowing you to send MIDI data from your DAW as CV to analog synthesizers, Eurorack modules, and sequencers.

The M2 comes with Ableton Live Lite and MOTU Performer Lite, popular and powerful DAWs for recording and producing music. Also included are over 100 instruments for Performer Lite, along with 6GB of unique loops, sounds and samples for both software.
