Fast, professional results for everyone Digital cameras have “autofocus” features that help casual users achieve results close to those of seasoned photographers. At the same time, these cameras offer all the features a serious photographer wants. With that in mind, the TouchMix design team set out to create a mixer that would do for live sound what autofocus technology had done for photography. Many of TouchMix’s features, such as EQ, compressors, gates and limiters, give you the choice of operating in an advanced mode that gives you full control over every parameter, or a simple mode that offers only the most essential controls. There’s also a comprehensive library of
Channel Presets. These aren’t your typical, generic, one-size-fits-all settings developed in a recording studio. Experienced live sound engineers have spent months working with musicians, all sorts of instruments, popular microphones and sensors, and multiple speakers to develop a library of settings specifically designed for live sound reinforcement. In addition, the Effects Wizard guides you through selecting and assigning the right effects, while the Gain Wizard continually monitors and displays input clipping, allowing you to focus on your performance. The TouchMix also comes with an entire library of complete mix scenes to get you started. Custom scenes can be stored or recalled from internal or USB memory, and the user can choose to include or omit the main and auxiliary mix levels. Compact and Complete TouchMix mixers are completely self-contained. They require no external computer or video monitor. The full-color graphic touchscreen displays and provides access to mixing parameters. Mixer parameters can be adjusted on-screen or via the physical rotary encoder. Frequently used functions can be accessed or controlled using hardware keys. The TouchMix can also be controlled remotely via Wi-Fi with wireless iOS devices. The Remote Control app controls all mixer parameters, and the mixer includes a Wi-Fi adapter that creates a network connection between the mixer and the portable device. No external network hardware is required. With four (TouchMix-8) or ten (TouchMix-16) auxiliary output channels, the TouchMix has ample monitoring mixing capabilities. Both models have the ability to directly feed multiple wired stereo in-ear monitors. The TouchMix can also record directly to an external USB hard drive – no external computer is required. All inputs plus a stereo mix are created in 32-bit broadcast wave format. Tracks can also be played back on the mixer or imported into most DAWs to record additional tracks and handle post-production. Finally, the TouchMix comes complete with its own padded case for transport and protection.
