The E-A7’s 1,500 built-in sounds are just the beginning. Many musicians build up a library of tried-and-tested sounds over the course of their careers, and can play them on the E-A7 using the WAV file import option. They can also use the built-in sampling function to create their own sounds, including drum beats and choir parts. Everything you need to optimize your sound, including applying effects, is right there on your instrument. So you can arrive at your gig, try out ideas during soundcheck, and improve your sound right before the show starts.

When you’re on stage, you only need what you need to work, which is why the E-A7 gives you direct access to the most commonly used live functions. Six pads let you trigger one-time samples or MIDI phrases at any time. You can set your harmonic mode and change it with a single button. Six sliders let you adjust the volume of individual parts, such as drums, bass, or overall playback. Finally, seven assignable User buttons, located below the PitchBend lever, let you customize your controls. Whatever you need during a performance, you can access them without taking your hands off the lever.

With so many buttons and sliders on the E-A7, most of the essential controls are already at your fingertips. You can also save a range of custom settings within a single program, including the on/off status of parts, automatic transitions (AutoFill), and special effects inputs (Input EFX). This extra layer of control lets you easily customize your keyboard, for each song, and during a performance. Programs from Roland’s “BK arranger” series can also be accessed directly from a USB flash drive.
