Presentation
The lightweight and responsive basswood body delivers balanced tone, while the maple “C”-shaped neck ensures comfort and playability for players of all skill levels.
Featuring two single-coil Jazzmaster pickups, this guitar captures the essence of alternative rock with a rich, full tone, selected by Mascis to deliver a clear yet powerful sound. Dual Lead/Rhythm circuitry adds exceptional tonal flexibility, allowing for independent volume and tone controls for each pickup and easy switching between Lead and Rhythm modes with a slide switch.
Additionally, the three-way selector switch provides quick access to pickup combinations, further enhancing the instrument’s versatility.
The Adjusto-Matic bridge, accompanied by a vintage-style floating tremolo, ensures precise string placement and reliable tuning stability, while retaining the charm of the original Jazzmasters.
The gold-anodized aluminum pickguard adds a touch of elegance and recalls classic models from the ’50s, while the aged white plastic control knobs accentuate the guitar’s retro aesthetic.
Finally, the satin-finished maple neck and 9.5"-radius Indian laurel fingerboard make playing smooth, and the 21 jumbo frets make it easy to move along the neck.
Whether on stage or in the studio, the J Mascis Jazzmaster delivers expressive sound and a wide variety of tones, perfectly suited to the needs of modern musicians while paying homage to J Mascis' alternative rock heritage.
