C 414 XLII was developed to provide a sound alternative to the standard version C 414 XLS and produces a sound very close to the famous AKG C 12. It is identical to the C 414 XLS except that it increases slightly higher frequencies from 3 kHz by a completely different acoustic resistance. This treble boost, highlighting the grain of the human voice, especially predisposes the C 414 XLII for recording soloists, singers or instrumentalists they are. It should also to remarkably long distance records, such as from the ceiling of a concert hall.

Spotlight on
Founded in 1947 in Vienna, AKG is today one of the major players in the world of audio, with references for microphones and headphones used in the world's largest recording studios. These include the C414 condenser microphone, the small C451 diaphragm and the K series of monitoring headsets.
Since its acquisition by Harman International in 1994, AKG has continued to innovate with new stage microphones, analog and digital wireless systems, the Perception Series, and collaborations with artists such as Tiësto on DJ headphones.
